Social Skills in Community Saturday Program

1.png

At Aim we strive to take learning outside of the clinical setting and into the real world ! Studies show that when skills are practiced in natural settings, they are maintained in the child's repertoire and prove to be more useful to them on a day to day basis.

In order to do this, we use a branch of ABA known as Natural Environment Teaching or "NET". This fall, our Saturday group will be focused on building community based social skills.

Each week, the group will meet at a new community venue to practice the setting-relevant social skills.

AIM's

Life Skills Training Program

2.png

Developing life and self-help skills is important for every individual’s sense of autonomy and well-being. Children are continuously assisted, directed and prompted. They need to be allowed a platform to learn and display independence.

This program seeks to make learning life and self help skills fun. The goal of the program is to take a child’s acquired skills and apply them to every day tasks.

We will be teaching our children how to brush their teeth, make a sandwich, fold their clothes, and so many others life skills.

AIM's Jolly-Holly Simulation Celebration

Coming Soon!

Website Event Labels.png
With the holidays around the corner, this event at AIM will use a priming technique from ABA to prepare children for the experience of Christmas/Holiday types of activities.

By running a simulation or an imitation of the real thing, we will teach the children to adapt to noise levels, lights and the sensory backdrop of the holiday season.

In addition, we will target social skills by having the children participate in a gift exchange with peers. Children will select a present for their peer, wrap it and present it to them. Each child will take turns opening their presents under the Aim Christmas Tree and thanking their peers.
